ArkiBlog uses WordPress Blogging Software. If you are used to blogging, you will have no difficulties to use ArkiBlog. However, some practical hints are listed below to use this site more effectively. Novice authors may also use these hints and guidelines to contribute to ArkiBlog easily.

Posting your message: Use ArkiBlog’s own WYSWYG editor, just like using Windows Word. To break your long messeges, use button after 2nd or 3rd paragraph. Do not use various fonts, font sizes or other alternative unless you really need them.

Do not copy and paste directly from websites or word documents, since formatting of these documents will also be copied and weird things happen in the wordpress WYSWYG editor. Instead copy the text you would like to paste first into your notepad software (notepad.exe in windows) then copy and paste to ArkiBlog from there. This method will eliminate the heavy formatting of the source documents.

Langauge Selection: ArkiBlog is a Turkish-English blog. Posts can be written in both languages or you may use only one language. If you want to post in both languages, you don’t need to repeat the posting. All you have to do is to use or tags in your posts. Here is the usage:

For the title, use this scheme: (Eliminate * signs when using) [*lang_en*]Your title in English [*/lang_en*] [*lang_tr*] Your title in Turkish[*/lang_tr*]

For the message body use the same scheme: (Eliminate * signs when using) [*lang_en*] Your message body in English[*/lang_en*] [*lang_tr*] Your message body in Turkish[*/lang_tr*]With this method, an entry can be switched to either English or to Turkish by the small EN or TR arrow at the end of the message or at the top of the pages. Inserting images: In order to insert images into your messages, use the button . This will create an image upload and editor window, from where you can easily upload images. Please do not use images wider than 500pixels. Give unique and descriptive names to your images and keep the image folders tidy.

By default images are uploaded to the pages with 5 pixels margin to their right side. Do not align images to right side.

Message Features: Below each post, you can wiew the author of the post, its publishing time, categories which the post belongs to and viewing statistics. Also you can use the email and print functions to send the specific post you find interesting to your friends or you may print it to read it later.

Events: If you want to add an event to the calender, post it as a usual message and change the time stamp as the date and time of the event you would like to announce.

Random Header Images: Header images may change randomly, which is linked to a page always. This page contains information about the header images and related links. Usually the header images are chosen according to one of the most important current message.

Gallery: ArkiBlog has a sophisticated online image gallery which can be used by editors and administrators only. This feature will be used as a showcase for thematic images of the areas which ArkiBlog is interested in.
